Artist Statement

Anna Marie became a professional artist at age 93, having learned a new skill, needle-felting. She is my Mom and this piece was scary to even contemplate. How would I be able to paint her adequately? I dove in and was happy to discover she appeared on the silk just as she is…vibrant and beautiful.
