Artist Statement
My maternal Grandparents homesteaded in Montana before my mother was born in 1920. So I feel a connection to that state. When the call for HERstory came out and my first choice was already taken. I googled Montana, women, 1920 and came across this amazing woman. The pieced blocks are a version of the Montana state quilt block, the image was printed on my home printer.

Machine piecing, paper piecing, photo manipulation and image printing. Machine quilted.

Commercial cottons and batiks, prepared for printing fabric, cotton blend batting.
