Artist Statement
Geraldine Ferraro was a highly respected public servant who dedicated her career to protecting the rights of women, children and seniors. Her claim to fame, of course, was her role as the first woman to run for the vice presidency of the United States, breaking the glass ceiling to our highest offices.
I chose to portray Ferraro in the halls of congress, overlooking her beloved New York city. As the daughter of immigrants, she represents, as well, the American dream. And, by her Vice Presidential bid, I show her breaking a very important glass ceiling, paving the way for women who followed.
