I picked one of the available names and loved learning about this remarkable woman. I am a painter so chose to paint parts of her life on silk.

Woman’s Groundbreaking Accomplishment

She was an educator and activist who counseled four presidents on Negro education.

Techniques

Paper backed silk crepe de chine, painted with tsukineko inks, quilted on a movable machine.
