Artist Statement

It’s late. I’m curled up with a cozy blanket and a glass of wine settling in to watch “Roman Holiday” for the umpteenth time. Or it could be “Sabrina,” “The Nun’s Story,” “My Fair Lady,” or “Breakfast at Tiffany’s.” No matter. The object of my affection is Audrey Hepburn. I love her sweetness of being, her grace, her loveliness, her costumes. Black and white apparel seems to predominate.

That was my inspiration for this quilt. Audrey was always at her most elegant attired in black and/or white. With a touch of red.
