Artist Statement
Marin Alsop cracked a major musical glass ceiling not by hitting a high note that splintered crystal but by becoming the first woman to be named conductor of a major American symphony orchestra. In September 2007, Ms. Alsop became conductor of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra.

Techniques
Cut and fused commercial printed and solid cottons onto muslin backing, fused applique of figure, beaded baton, quilted.
Materials
Commercial printed and solid cotton, cotton/polyester batting, beads, purchased letters, acrylic paint.
